JAPAN!!

Welcome to Japan!!

Japan is super cool.. I really dont know what to say. If you havent been here you have to come here. Its amazing and so interesting. Its such a breathe of fresh air after spending 5 months in south east asia. Everything here is so orderly, clean and efficient. The biggest surprise though is that Japan is turning out to be much cheaper than we thought. We heard stories of how expensive it is but really it isnt that bad at all and I'd say its cheaper than Sydney.

Our first few days were spent with Uriah's cousin Julie and her husband Hiromichi's famiy in Shizoka. They are beautiful people and showed us how gracious Japanese hospitality is.. They also fed us to the brink of explosion. The baby below is Ryu, their 6 month old son.

We are in Kyoto right now and are absolutely loving it. Such a cool place.

FOOD!! I love it. Japanese food in Japan is sooo much better than Japanese food in say Canada or Australia... So fresh and actually quite cheap. Ive never tasted Unagi so fresh.. Anyway gotta go. Til next time --- Derek

I think it's safe to say that you have made me extremely jealous. Lol.

Is that a bullet train or a Mag-Lev? Argh. It doesn't matter. They're both cool!

Have fun!

I totally recognise heaps of the places in your pics! Are you going to the world's largest completely wooden temple? Inside is this massive buddha statue that's like 3 stories tall and there are another 2 wooden statues on either side. Actually that might be in Nara. If you can, you should go there too. You can get there by train from Kyoto and it's awesome. It's also known as Deer park because there are heaps of deer everywhere. You stand at a busy crossing with traffice whizzing by and there will be about 5 or 10 deer standing at the lights.
